The EU has set up a military research programme for the first time this year, with the objective of helping to preserve the competitiveness of the arms industry. The so-called Preparatory Action on Defence Research (PADR) allocates a total sum of 90 million euros to military research projects over a three-year period up to 2020.

Mounting concerns about the possibility of a nuclear war along with Donald Trump’s “unpredictability” have pushed the symbolic “Doomsday Clock” to two minutes before midnight, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists said Thursday.

Anti-Bases Conference Held in Baltimore

The Conference on U.S. Foreign Military Bases was held in Baltimore, convened by the Coalition Against U.S. Foreign Military Bases. The conference, organized under the leadership of the U.S. Peace Council and UNAC (United Anti-War Coalition,) with the participation of Veterans for Peace, World Beyond War and other traditional peace movement organizations.
