Kate Hudson was elected a board member in 2022 and has been re-elected for a second term in 2025.
Kate Hudson is Vice-President of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and a peace and anti-war campaigner nationally and internationally. She previously served as its Chair and then General Secretary. By training a historian, she was awarded a doctorate by the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London, and worked in the field of eastern Europe and post-communist politics. She was Head of Social and Policy Studies at London South Bank University from 2003 to 2010 when she took up a post at CND.
She is the author of a number of books, including European Communism Since 1989 (Palgrave Macmillan), Breaking the South Slav Dream: The Rise and Fall of Yugoslavia (Pluto Press), CND – Now More Than Ever: The Story of a Peace Movement (Vision Paperbacks), The New European Left: a socialism for the twenty-first century? (Palgrave Macmillan), CND at 60: Britain’s most enduring mass movement (Public Reading Rooms).
Widely published in the media and with frequent radio and television appearances, she is also an editorial board member of Transform – a journal of the radical left (Public Reading Rooms), and the Journal of Contemporary Central and Eastern Europe (Routledge). She is currently serving as a Board member of Declassified UK, Britain’s pre-eminent investigative journalism team.
