Free Marwan: A Call for Freedom

November 29th is the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, and on this day, we are calling on organisations, solidarity movements, and community groups everywhere to raise their voices and demand the Release of Marwan Barghouti.

The International Campaign to Free Marwan Barghouti is providing files to print posters, flags and stickers to all groups wanting to join the call for Marwan’s release.

The Call:

● Include Marwan in your demonstration on November 29 to raise awareness about his condition and the conditions over 9,000 Palestinians face in Israeli jails.

● Print posters, placards, flags, stickers and *banners for your demonstrations. (Designs available on slide 6.)

● Take high-quality photos and videos of your actions to post on social media, collab-tagging @FreeMarwanNow on Instagram and tagging us on other platforms. Hashtag #FreeMarwanNow

● Send high-quality photos and videos to marc@ownthespace.org via WeTransfer as soon as possible on the day so we can create videos showing the actions taking place around the world.

● Join the campaign by sending us your logo for the website, and invite your communities to take part by using the call-to-action to contact their representatives.

*If you would like a banner designed, please email marc@ownthespace.org to confirm size.

KEY MARWAN QUOTES:

“If the price of my people’s freedom is my own freedom, then I’m willing to pay that price.”

“What is taking place in Israeli prisons is the rear battlefield of the genocidal war waged against our Palestinian people.”

“I am simply a regular guy from the Palestinian street advocating only what every other oppressed person has advocated — the right to help myself in the absence of help from anywhere else.”

“No matter how great the suffering and sacrifices of our people, our struggle will not cease until freedom, return, and independence are achieved.”

“We are waging the battle for freedom and dignity with an unlimited hunger strike; and this is the prisoners’ weapon, just as knowledge is your weapon to liberate your homeland and your people.”

“We call for a democratic and pluralistic political system based on the principle of separation of powers, respect for the rule of law, fair elections and democracy.”

“There is no greater joy in the world than kissing your children in the morning, and nothing compares to it.”

“Our chains will be broken before we are, because it is human nature to heed the call for freedom regardless of the cost.”

Israel refuses to release Marwan Barghouti because he is a popular, unifying leader, and represents the greatest threat to the status quo: hope. But international pressure can work — just as it did to free Nelson Mandela from Apartheid South Africa.

A call to Free Marwan is a call to free all Palestinian political prisoners. It’s a call to Free Palestine.

On November 29th, they encourage to mobilise.
