Main Activities of the NGO Appui Solidarité pour le Renforcement de l’Aide au Développement | The NGO Support and Solidarity for Strengthening Aid and Development (ASRAD Mali)

ASRAD Mali is engaged in a range of activities aimed at promoting peace, sustainable development, and community resilience in Mali in the face of social, environmental, and economic challenges.  Here are the organization’s main activities:

1. Promotion of Peace and Social Cohesion

Conflict Mediation and Resolution: Organizing community dialogues and mediation sessions to de-escalate inter-community tensions and promote reconciliation.

Peace Education: Raising awareness among youth and local leaders about the importance of peace through workshops and training, in collaboration with schools and UNESCO clubs.

Community Capacity Building: Training community leaders and young leaders in peaceful conflict resolution techniques.

2. Environmental Protection and Climate Resilience

Reforestation Projects: Organizing reforestation campaigns, such as the “Cap Chantier de Reboisement” program, involving youth to restore degraded lands and strengthen resilience to climate change.

Sustainable Resource Management: Initiatives focused on conserving resources and sustainable land management to reduce deforestation and preserve local ecosystems.

Environmental Awareness: Workshops and campaigns to raise awareness about environmental issues, with a focus on combating desertification and highlighting the importance of biodiversity.

3. Sustainable Development and Economic Support

Vocational Training and Economic Inclusion: Training programs for youth and women to help them acquire professional skills and access economic opportunities.

Support for Income-Generating Activities (IGAs): Assistance for small local initiatives to improve the livelihoods of communities by creating sustainable sources of income.

Food Security Projects: Implementation of agricultural projects to improve food self-sufficiency in vulnerable communities.

4. Education and Community Awareness

Educational Programs: Developing educational programs to inform communities about the SDGs and the importance of sustainable development.

Teacher Training: Training sessions for teachers on themes of peace education and environmental awareness, to instill these values in students from a young age.

Awareness Campaigns: Community awareness campaigns on topics like health, human rights, and social inclusion, to reinforce community cohesion and well-being.

5. Participation in International Bodies and Partnerships

Accreditations and International Representation: With accreditations from ECOSOC, UNFCCC, UNCCD, and PNED, ASRAD represents the voices of Malian communities at international conferences and collaborates with other organizations on development projects.

Partnerships for Development: Working with local governments, international NGOs, anddevelopment institutions to mobilize resources and enhance the impact of its programs in Mali.

6. Emergency Response and Humanitarian Aid

Emergency Interventions: Providing humanitarian aid in response to emergencies, particularly in areas affected by conflicts or environmental crises.

Support for Vulnerable Groups: Distributing essential goods and supporting vulnerable groups, such as internally displaced persons and communities affected by crises.

ASRAD Mali continues to work towards a more resilient, peaceful, and sustainable Mali, adapting its activities to meet the evolving needs of communities and actively working towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
