Wir möchten Euch gerne gemeinsam mit IPPNW zu unserem nächsten Webinar mit dem Thema ‚Klima & Frieden‘ einladen, welches am 21. September 2022 – dem Weltfriedenstag – um 19 Uhr über Zoom stattfindet.
Warum befeuern sich Klimakrise, gewaltsame Konflikte und Aufrüstung gegenseitig? Wie können wir „Sicherheit“ schaffen, wenn die Bedrohung von Klimakrise und Atomwaffen ausgeht? Was bedeutet das für die deutschen Klima- und Friedensbewegungen?
Die Gesprächsrunde versucht diesen Fragen nachzugehen und beschäftigt sich mit strukturellen Herausforderungen an der Schnittstelle von Klimakatastrophe und Krieg. Dazu zählen der CO2-Fußabdruck des Militärs und dessen nach wie vor fehlende bzw. intransparente Erhebung. Wir besprechen die immensen finanziellen und intellektuellen Ressourcen, die durch das 100 Mrd Packet und das 2% Ziel für die NATO in Rüstung statt in Klimaschutz fließen sollen. So droht ein Kreislauf zwischen zunehmenden, auch durch die Klimakrise verstärkten Konflikten und der Antwort in Form von immer mehr Militär.
Ziel ist, über diese Verbindungen ins Gespräch zu kommen, die deutsche Friedens- und Klimabewegung zu vernetzen und Brücken zu bauen.

We would like to invite you together with IPPNW to our next webinar on the topic ‘Climate & Peace’, which will take place on September 21, 2022 – the World Peace Day – at 7 pm CEST via Zoom.
Why do the climate crisis, violent conflicts, and armament fuel each other? How can we create “security” when the threat comes from the climate crisis and nuclear weapons? What does this mean for the German climate and peace movements?
The roundtable seeks to explore these questions and look at structural challenges at the intersection of climate catastrophe and war. These include the military’s carbon footprint and its still missing or non-transparent collection. We plan to discuss the immense financial and intellectual resources that the 100 billion package and the 2% target for NATO are supposed to channel into armaments instead of climate protection. This threatens a cycle between increasing conflicts, also intensified by the climate crisis, and the response in the form of more and more military.
The goal is to engage in conversation about these connections, to crosslink the German peace and climate movement, and to build bridges.
