Nel Bonilla make a fresh analysis of NATO after the Ankara Summit. She starts with a quote –
“NATO, it’s there to protect the United States because the US needs to secure the Atlantic and secure the Arctic and secure Europe to stay safe here in the US mainland but it is also there to make sure Europe is safe and to be this platform of power projection for the United States.” NATO Secretary General, the Dutch Mark Rutte stated on CNN April 9, 2026.
In a detailed analysis with many recent sources Bonilla shows how the talk about creating a European led NATO is false. Instead what is happening is that the US turns against its partners demanding that their military and economies become integrated in serving US global technological, economic and military interests undermining a multipolar world.
She says: “The alliance is being reorganized so that Europe and other partners shoulder the ground-level burden: supplying funding, industrial output, physical infrastructure, and the heavy human casualties of conventional attritional warfare. Meanwhile, the United States secures its grip on the overarching command layer. Washington retains the ultimate strategic keys—from the nuclear umbrella and long-range strike capabilities to the digital brain of intelligence networks, cloud infrastructure, and AI integration—while reserving sole authority over global priorities, technical standards, and economic coercion.”
Nel Bonilla have also participated in the discussions about a counterstrategy for peace on Earth and peace with Earth organized by World Social Assembly for Struggles and Resistances, International Peace Bureau and World BEYOND War towards World Social Forum 2026. Starting with her analysis of NATO 3.0 the webinar will continue with a shorter part presenting some thoughts on this counterstrategy under development with the title “We are the solution”.
