Join War Resisters International (WRI) from April to July for our Disarming the Climate Crisis training programme! Over eight online sessions we will be joined by activists, researchers and organisers from around the world who will share their experience and knowledge of taking action at the intersection of militarism and the climate crisis.
This online training programme will be an opportunity to extend your knowledge and understanding of the relationship between militarism and the climate crisis, increase your confidence in taking action on these complex issues, and contribute to building solidarity networks internationally.
Over eight participatory sessions we will:
- Deepen our knowledge of the way war and militarism are contributing to the climate crisis,
- Build a deeper collective understanding of the relationship between demilitarisation and a just transition
- Explore strategies for centring our movements campaigns around climate justice and antimilitarism
Some of the sessions will include external speakers and experts in various fields.
Course Detailed Info
When
The training will take place fortnightly from 21st April to 28th July, at 1:00-2:30pm UTC. The full list of dates and topics is outlined below.
Where
The sessions will take place on Zoom. You can register here.
Price
These events are free but the registration form will invite a financial donation – please consider supporting our work.
Who is this training for?
This training is designed for people involved in activism, campaigning and social change work. There is no need to have substantial knowledge of either militarism or climate change.
We think anyone with a strong interest in peace activism, environmental action, migrant rights and borders, or social movements and organising will have something to learn and something to contribute.
The training will be delivered in English, but we appreciate some (perhaps even a majority) of participants will not speak English as a first language and we will make sure the use of language is inclusive.
Expectations
The eight sessions are designed to support participants learning in a wide range of interconnected issues. We appreciate not everyone will be able to make all of the sessions, but we hope participants will make a determined effort to make as many of them as possible.
The sessions will be a mixture of presentations and participatory activities – we hope you will come with a willingness to learn and actively engage in the sessions.
